They perform a variety of roots rock inspired dance music from North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean Islands. The ethnically diverse musicians establish energizing polyrhythmic grooves and combine biting twang guitars, thumping bass, with the strength of brass horns, group singing, and urban poetry. Members: Armando Perez, Kevin Miller, Dan Lieber, Ezra Lange, Diana Mosquera, Puerko Pitzotl, Jess Anzaldua, Matt Davis, and Luis Tubens all bring a vital cultural contribution to the band's unique "afrojam funkbeat" sound. Inspired by Chicago's soulful blues, jazzy house, and global fusion heavyweights, the group deliver their performances with purpose and verve; unifying listeners through sound and dance. ?ESSO! was awarded "Best New Band," and "Best World/International Music Act" by the Chicago Reader's Poll in 2016. Their latest album offering, Pueblo Unido, is a remix album of their debut record. Fresh back from an appearance at SXSW and their first festival date in Mexico, ESSO's national tour in the Summer of 2017 will bring their music to new listeners across the states and beyond. More info and music: About Flamingo Cantina: (a note from Angela) For over 23 years, the Flamingo Cantina has been known as the people's favorite venue in Austin, Texas to see what we call "good vibes music" - live reggae, ska, latin and worldbeat music, as well as rock, hip hop, alternative and more. As it's owner, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with thousands of artists, including many international artists from nearly every continent. From the sounds of Afro-Cuban artist Ricardo Lemvo, to the amazing dancing and singing of the Mahotella Queens, to the Rastafarian reggae riddems performed by Burning Spear and other artists, the shows as well as the artists at Flamingo Cantina are legendary. Many artists who perform at the Flamingo Cantina enjoy the intimate nature of the room and comment on the "good vibe" the feel from the audience. The shows at our venue are unlike any other. The artists themselves will tell you they keep returning to get more of that "vibe" of the people and the place. The Flamingo Cantina is an oasis in the lives of people who support it - a respite from the struggles of daily life, where we can all go to dance, laugh, hear wonderful music, and eat some of Winston's delicious jerk chicken. From the Flamingo family, friends, and fans that support us, to my wonderful staff and the musicians that perform here, thank you for making this place possible! One love, Angela *ALL FLAMINGO CANTINA EVENTS ARE 21+ UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED*
